Santa Clara, CA, June 20, 2003. Coherent has introduced a new Spectrum Analyzer Controller for its Laser Spectrum Analyzer System. The system allows users to examine the fine details of the line spectra of CW lasers from 275 nm to 1625 nm. The updated Spectrum Analyzer Controller incorporates several new features to improve ease of use and provide a wider range of system functionality.

These features include a front panel scan voltage LED bar graph indicator, a 1x to 64x detector gain range selector, preset scan alignment selections for key wavelength bands, and a new centered sweep expansion function.

The Laser Spectrum Analyzer System is a scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer that consists of two concave mirrors, a spacer-tube and lens assembly, a detector, and an adjustable mount. The Spectrum Analyzer Controller provides the required ramp voltage for the analyzer system and allows full control of scan time and amplitude via front panel controls. It also provides the required conditioning and signal amplification for the detector and synchronization of an oscilloscope trace to the detector signal.

The new controller unit is backward compatible with all existing Coherent Model 240 and 216 Spectrum Analyzers. The controller uses a 9 VDC input from a 100-240 VAC external power supply.
