Noncontact interferometers

March 1, 1995
The noncontact ZX-1 and ZX-1 PMS zoom interferometers use an automated phasing technique to measure the topography of fiberoptic connectors, ferrules, fibers, and angled fibers. The systems operate on a PC in a Windows environment. The systems can measure radius of curvature to 0.5%, apex offset to 2.5 µm, and fiber protrusion or undercut to 8 nm.
