NIST developing flat-panel-display measurements standard

The Video Electronics Standards Association, a project of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST; Gaithersburg, MD), is developing a flat-panel-display measurements standard to meet the need for good metrology for display quality. This standard will provide measurement procedures to quantify flat-panel-display characteristics. Diagnostics and metrological difficulties are addressed, and technical discussions are presented to assist those unfamiliar with light measurements. A draft report goes to full committee review in July. A final standard is expected sometime this fall.
