A diode-pumped frequency-doubled Nd:YVO4 laser, the Verdi, provides more than 5 W of green output from a shoebox-sized laser head. The laser can be used in metrology and as a pum¥for tunable CW or ultrafast Ti:sapphire lasers because of the its single-frequency operation.
