    NIST establishes Optical Properties Consortium

In response to industry requests, the Optical Technology Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST; Gaithersburg, MD) is setting u¥a consortium open to all industrial sectors to address critical needs related to the properties of advanced optical materials. These include making high-accuracy optical measurements, developing and evaluating new standards, and disseminating data on the optical properties of materials. A lack of data is impacting the cost and efficiency of how these materials are incorporated into applications. Initially the fee to join will be $5000 per member to cover administrative setu¥costs.
