Corning and Lightwave open nominations for seventh annual FTTXcellence Award
Corning, NY and Nashua, NH--Corning Incorporated and Lightwave are honoring an individual for personal contributions to the deployment of optical access networks in North America with the seventh annual FTTXcellence Award (FTTX or FTTx includes fiber to the home (FTTH), premise, curb, node, etc.). The award will be presented September 15 at the 2010 FTTH Conference & Expo in Las Vegas.
"The FTTXcellence Award has recognized outstanding and deserving winners in the past six years from a variety of market segments, and we expect the same quality of nominations for the seventh annual award," said Clark Kinlin, president and CEO of Corning Cable Systems. To be eligible for the award, candidates must be nominated by a peer. Nominees may include individuals at carriers and system operators, home developers, utilities, municipalities, or other organizations that have launched a FTTx project; individuals at vendors or research organizations whose work has benefited FTTx technology development; politicians or other policymakers who have made a significant positive impact in the regulatory or legal arena; and other deserving individuals. A panel of judges from Lightwave and Corning will select the winner from the submitted nominations. In addition to an awards ceremony at the FTTH Conference, the winner will be honored with a donation in his or her name to One Economy Corporation, a global non-profit organization that maximizes the potential of technology to help low-income people improve their lives and enter the economic mainstream. The winner will also receive an award of Steuben glass, crafted by the world-renowned glass artists of the Steuben Glass studios in Corning, NY, and will be profiled in an issue of Lightwave.
FTTXcellence Award winners in recent years have included representatives from the following companies: TELUS, Embarq, Union Telephone, Connexion Technologies, City of Loma Linda, CA, and Verizon.
