Applications are being accepted through 1 December for the Berthold Leibinger Innovationspreis, honoring work or technical development in applied laser technology.
The biennial prize is offered by the private foundation Berthold Leibinger Stiftung (Ditzingen, Germany) and is open to individuals and project groups that have completed publicly accessible, excellent, scientific work or produced an innovative technical development in the field of applied laser technology.
Applications may be submitted in German or English by post or electronically. Both individual applications or well-founded recommendations are allowed. The jury is made up of respected experts from science and industry. The nominees are invited by the Berthold Leibinger Stiftung to a jury meeting to present their work in person.
Prize money has been increased this year, with 30,000 Euros awarded for first, 20,000 for second, and 10,000 for third prize.
"The capacity for innovation is the key to the future. The issues that arise around the world can be solved only by continual progress in science and technology," said the foundation's founder, Berthold Leibinger.
