Shanghai, China--The rapid growth of China's industrial capacity along with investment in research and development has provided the bases for a fast growing photonics industry, estimated to exceed $1 billion in 2011. Chinese companies from this industry, along with exhibitors from Europe and North America, will gather at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, March 20-22, during LASER World of Photonics China. The exhibition is organized by Messe Muenchen International (MMI).
The leading exhibition for lasers and photonics in China, the 2011 show saw a total of 360 exhibitors from 18 countries, a 31% increase compared to 2010. The exhibition space in 2011 expanded to 17,000 sq m, growing by 50%. The show attracted 28,800 visitors, an increase of 14%.
LASER World of Photonics China includes several accompanying technical congress and VisionChina Shanghai, with over 30 machine vision companies co-sponsored by the China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG). The program for Photonics Congress China 2012 is now available.

- Optics Frontiers--The 7th Conference on Laser Technology and Optoelectronics, organized by the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, MMI, and Chinese Laser Press
- OSA Energy Photonics Workshop, organized by the Optical Society of America and MMI
- OIDA Optical Fiber Communications Workshop, organized by OSA and OIDA.
Laser Focus World and Laser Focus World China will be there. I will be giving a keynote speech titled: The Global Market for Lasers: A US Perspective on Laser Processes and Trends.
