Two Nobel Prize winners to speak at OPTOmism "green" photonics conference
Speakers recently confirmed for the OPTOmism Conference & Exhibition: Photonics Products for Green Technology, to be held May 18 - 20, 2009 Santa Clara, CA include Steven Chu (Nobel Prize in Physics, 1997) and Arno Penzias (Nobel Prize in Physics, 1978). The conference will cover multiple segments of the photonics industry that will deliver solutions to enable greater efficiency in a smaller carbon footprint while promoting economic growth.
Steven Chu is director, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and professor of physics and professor of molecular and cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley and will speak on the ramifications to technology development of green policies. Arno Penzias is partner, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), and will address the investment climate and focus at NEA and other places with regard to energy and other green topics, and the importance of green photonics.
Abstracts are being accepted online until October 31, 2008 in the areas of solid-state lighting, solar photovoltaics, high-efficiency displays, high-efficiency communications and computing, photonic sensing for energy efficiency management (e.g. grid monitoring, smart building), photonic sensing for energy resource management (e.g. oil recovery), photonic sensing for energy efficient systems (e.g. combustion, turbines, etc.), efficient manufacturing, and new and novel photonics developments for sustainable applications.
At OPTOmism, you will have the opportunity to speak to senior industry executives, researchers, engineers, and investors as well as have an opportunity to examine many of these technologies, explore their business implications, and review technology roadmaps. In addition, your presentation will be included in our comprehensive pre-show direct marketing campaign and published in the OPTOmism Online Proceedings, a new source of influential, rapidly published, cutting-edge research.
This event is presented by Laser Focus World, the leading photonics-industry trade publication, and the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association (OIDA), a not-for-profit association that serves as the nexus for vision, transformation, and growth of the photonics and optoelectronics industry.
