Brussels, Belgium--SEMI announced the appointment of Paul Hyland, president and CEO of AIXTRON SE, as member of the SEMI Europe advisory board. AIXTRON is a leading provider of deposition equipment to the semiconductor industry. The Company's technology solutions are used by a diverse range of customers worldwide to build advanced components for electronic and optoelectronic applications based on compound, silicon, or organic semiconductor materials and more recently carbon nanostructures.
"I am delighted to have been asked to join the SEMI European Advisory Board at a time when the global challenges and opportunities within the Technology sector have never been so important for the European Technology industry”, said Hyland. "Europe has a long, rich, and often, underappreciated, history in technology innovation and has some of the world’s leading players in cutting-edge technology within its borders. The opportunity to leverage that strength globally depends greatly on the ability of industry, the research community and governments to sustain a ‘joined up’ and focused approach to technology development. I would like to see a more concerted effort by all parties to appreciate the valuable intellectual assets we have within Europe and to bring a coordinated technology strategy to the forefront of regional and national investment agendas."
"We are pleased that, with Paul Hyland, we have gained an additional recognized expert and leader for our SEMI European Advisory Board. We look forward to his strategic guidance, and share his industry insights and represent the collective interests of our members towards sustainable growth and profitability," said Heinz Kundert, president of SEMI Europe.
Hyland has worked for AIXTRON since 2000 and has been president and CEO of the AIXTRON group through a period of extraordinary volatility, culminating in three record years of growth and clear global market leadership. Hyland has had more than 30 years experience in equipment technology, covering the Utility, Communications, Medical Device, Semiconductor and Optoelectronics sectors. Before joining AIXTRON, he held positions with Smiths Industries, Alphameric, Racal and Westinghouse.
SEMI is the global industry association serving the manufacturing supply chains for the microelectronic, display, and photovoltaic industries.
