VI Systems introduces VCSEL arrays for 12 x 15 Gbit/s per channel
VI Systems offers ultrahigh-speed laser and photo detectors in a standard chip arrays format for parallel optical interconnect applications with at total data rate of up to 180 Gbit/s (12 x 15 Gbit/s). The 850nm VCSEL arrays and photo detector arrays are available in configurations of 12 x 1 channel and 4 x1 channel with each channel capable of data rates of up to 15 Gbit/s.
BERLIN, Germany, November 19, 2010
VI Systems GmbH, a leader in ultra-high speed optical components for data communications, introduces the V15-850C12 chip array of its Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) with 12 channels for data rates of up to 15 Gbit/s per channel and the D30-850C12 PIN photodetector chip arrays. The operating wavelength of the VCSEL is specified with 850nm. The photodetector is designed for a wavelength range from 700 – 890nm.
The chip arrays are available in 4 x 1 and and 12 x 1 channel configuration with an industry standard pitch size of 250 um for fiber coupling into ribbon fiber or waveguides.
The chip arrays are designed for wire-bonding as well as for flip-chip bonding. The VCSEL arrays can be contacted directly from the top and feature an ultrahigh-speed pad layout.
Target applications are short reach optical interconnects used in the computer and network industry such as Infiniband FDR at 14 Gbit/s per channel and computer storage attachments using 16G Fiber Channel.
Product sample are available now.
Visit VI Systems at the Photonics West exhibition in San Francisco, CA from January 25-27 in booth #5217.
