Burleigh Instruments (Harpenden, UK) has announced that as of 24th October 2001, that it will be changing its trading name to Scientifica Ltd. The move is as a result of the increased portfolio of products that the company is now able to offer to customers for photonics and life science research applications.

Company management reports the move is as a result of the increased portfolio of products that the firm can now offer to customers for photonics and life science research applications.

Managing Director Mark Johnson comments: “ Having successfully supported the range of Burleigh Instruments photonics and life science products in the UK for over 5 years, our recent agreement to distribute the complete range of fiberoptic test and measurement equipment from EXFO was a catalyst to change the company's trading name to Scientifica.”

In addition to offering its own range of life science manipulators, Scientifica has exclusive UK distribution agreements with Multi-Channel Systems (neuroscience and nuclear physics research), ALA Scientific Instruments Inc. (pharmacological testing), and npi electronics (electrophysiology research).
