Belvidere, IL, November 13, 2003. EPSI (Engineered Pressure Systems, Inc.), received an award on September 12, 2003, in appreciation for its design and installation of eight hydrothermal crystal growing systems, and supporting auxiliary equipment.

NDK Crystal, Inc., a leading manufacturer of quartz crystal electronic components, presented Gary Nelson, Vice President of EPSI, with the Engineering Excellence Award at the new Belvidere, Illinois, facility's grand opening and building dedication. Frederic Brereton, the Mayor of Belvidere, was in attendance among many company representatives from all over the world.

EPSI custom designed the vessels to integrate with NDK's existing synthetic quartz crystals manufacturing operation. The vessels are among the largest to be manufactured. With the installation of EPSI's unique hydrothermal crystal growing systems, NDK will now only use 70% of the energy the facility originally used to run the systems.

According to Gary Nelson, "We are thrilled to be the recipient of an award at the building dedication. Being honored for designing the most efficient state-of-the-art autoclaves in the world, further shows our dedication to our customers as well as the industry."

Formerly a division of National Forge Company, Engineered Pressure Systems, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of Hot, Cold & Warm Isostatic Press Systems. Its manufacturing, testing, research, and specialized applications have resulted in unique solutions, developed through individual case studies combined with R&D expertise.

Established in 1948, NDK has steadily worked to develop, manufacture, and supply quality quartz crystal electronic components to its customers. Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co., Ltd. (NDK) is the world's leading manufacturer of quartz crystal electronic components. The Company's crystal units and devices are recognized for their consistent high quality, which has led them to be adopted in an array of electronic devices in industries ranging from communications equipment to automotive electronics and aerospace, including audiovisual and office automation.

NDK group employs approximately 6,000 people globally. Consolidated net sales of ¥ 49 billion is estimated in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2002. NDK Crystal, Inc. is one of the wholly owned subsidiaries of NDK, established in March 2002.
