June 23, 2005, Washington, DC--The Optoelectronics Industry Development Association (OIDA) announced today that Michael Lebby has been named its executive director. Lebby, known internationally for his contributions to the optics and photonics industry, brings to OIDA a rich history in the marketplace, combining business acumen with technical expertise to support the society's mission of advancing the competitiveness of its members and promoting optoelectronics worldwide.
In this new capacity, Lebby will help OIDA to expand its current position in the optoelectronics industry. Specifically, Lebby will hone the organization's strategic direction, focusing on increasing its value to its membership, expanding OIDA's role to cover the gamut of optoelectronics, and investigating, recommending and establishing new forums to better serve the global needs and interests of those in the field.
"Michael Lebby is recognized throughout the industry for both his technical proficiency and business savvy," said Arpad Bergh, OIDA president.
