In the Design and Application article, "'Phaser' awaits solid-state UV laser" (Laser Focus World, Februrary 2001, p. 147), the reference to affiliations of HSV Technologies (San Diego, CA) in the development of laser-based muscle-tetanizing technology should have stated that HSV Technologies is looking at the possibility of partnering or cooperating with well-established companies, such as Science Applications International or Science and Engineering Associates, which may then be licensed to manufacture the devices. In addition, the desired ultraviolet laser fluence for the devices should have been reported as 1000 mJ. Eric Herr's title was incorrectly reported; he is the research and development vice president.

The World News article, "Silicon sees femtosecond midinfrared light," (Laser Focus World, April 2001, p. 30) refers to research done by a group at NIST. The reference for this research was omitted from the article. It is: K. A. Briggmann, L. J. Richter, and J. C. Stephenson, Optics Letters, 26, 238 (2001).
