Connectable LED modules

Each StripLED connectable LED module contains four bright, wide-angle (85º) LEDtronics SpiderLEDs, one 3-in. double-ended connector harness for daisy-chain assembly, and a pre-applied strip of 3M double-side foam tape for "peel and stick" placement. The LEDs are available in green (525 nm), red (636 nm), yellow (592 nm), blue (470 nm), and white (7000 K). They are designed for channel letter applications.

The Lightning High Dynamic Laser System utilizes a limited divergence Rofin SLAB series laser to provide cutting speeds up to 11,800 ipm with 3-g acceleration in x-y axes. The system uses a MICROMach controller. The system cuts a maximum sheet size of 120 in. × 60 in. × 1600 lb and a maximum sheet thickness of 3/4-in. mild steel.

The module consists of a lens module with a white-LED illuminator, a Parallax Board of Education (BOE) module and programmed BASIC Stamp, and PC host software. Both solid and air-spaced etalons are available. An advanced process provides a thickness accuracy that can be controlled down to ±0.3 µm. Using IBS coating, the etalons can be used in high-power-density applications such as wavelength locking in high-power laser systems. The etalons can also be used in interleaver, dispersion compensation, interferometry, and Fabry-Perot applications, and can be built according to customer specifications.

Nonlinear crystal

BIBO is a newly developed borate nonlinear optical crystal with a large nonlinear coefficient (1.5 to 2 times that of BBO and 3.5 to 4 times that of LBO). It is insensitive to moisture and has a wide transmission range of 286 to 2500 nm. It is an ideal crystal for blue lasers and THG for 1064 nm. It is being offered for OEM requirements.

The MicroLine300 system provides manual critical dimension measurements for semiconductor wafers and photomasks. It measures features from 0.5 to 40 µm in size using a 100× objective lens and up to 800 µm at 5×. The system includes a microscope, computer, imaging components, and software for image analysis, auto-focus, and auto-illumination.

Megapixel digital cameras

The PL-A650 and PL-A660 are a new series of PixeLINK high-resolution CMOS cameras. Available in color and monochrome versions, the cameras are based on Kodak 1/2-in. 1.3-megapixel sensors. The sensors have a 1280 × 1024 pixel array with square 6-µm pixels. The PL-A660 is intended for bright-field microscopy and microscopic image documentation.

IR polarizers

Infrared polarizers are available with substrates including calcium fluoride, barium fluoride, zinc selenide, KRS-5, and polyethylene. The polarizers range from 1 to 250 µm. Holographic polarizers have high extinction and contrast ratios. With optional A/R coatings, greater transmission and polarization efficiencies are achieved. The laser-controlled ruled polarizers have typical laser-damage thresholds of 100-W/cm2 continuous wave.

Trace-gas-impurity analyzers

The MultiGas Purity trace-impurity analyzer can now detect low levels of various contaminants in high-purity bulk nitrous oxide (N2O). These analyzers are designed for use in semiconductor-device and flat-panel-display manufacturing. The fully automated analyzer can also provide detection in other bulk-process gases, including ammonia, nitrogen trifluoride, and hydrogen.

Vacuum Preloaded (VPL) Air Bearings provide machine designers with the potential to combine x and y linear motion and theta rotation all on one flat surface. The IK-53N and IK-52N are two new monochrome, high-resolution (768 × 494) cameras designed for machine vision applications. Both cameras measure 29-mm square and weigh 1.59 oz. The IK-52N has a 1/2-in. CCD, while the IK-53N has a 1/3-in. CCD. The cameras are compatible with most standard frame grabbers and use off-the-shelf C-mount lenses.

Tunable THz laser source

The new tunable terahertz (THz) laser source delivers narrow band, broadly tunable CW output around 800 µm. The desktop-sized device delivers from 100 to 1,000 µm, often referred to as the "terahertz gap." The source is designed for use by scientists in the fields of nanotechnology, biophysics, phonons, polymers, water structure, superconductors, chemistry, and drug discovery.

The extinction-ratio monitor measures polarization extinction ratios of laser modules with connectorized PM fiber. It also measures the incidence angle between laser polarization and the eigenaxis of PMF in a nondestructive manner, and the offset angle between the connector key and the eigenaxis of PMF. The monitor can be used in laser-module assembly.

The tunable laser TSL-500 uses an external-cavity design that provides SNR of >60 dB, >10-mW output power over the full 100-nm tuning range, and a wavelength accuracy of <3 pm. The laser can perform rapid wavelength sweeps (100 nm/2s) and has built-in power meters to enable transmission and return losses to be measured simultaneously. A removable LCD touch screen provides clear display and control. The EP21ANHT two-component, room-temperature curing epoxy adhesive has a thermal conductivity of more than 22 BTU/in./ft2/h/°F. It has a 1:1 mix ratio by weight or volume and has electrical insulation properties. Service operating temperature range is from -60ºF to +400ºF, shore D hardness is greater than 85, and volume resistivity is greater than 1013 ohm-cm.

A "super-size" version of the CL-707 high-speed laser cutting system offers a combination of a linear motor drive with an 8 × 20-ft cutting-table size. The table allows up to five 4 × 8-ft sheets or two standard 5 × 10-ft sheets to be processed at once. A proprietary linear-motor axis drive provides acceleration of more than 2.0 G with head positioning speeds of up to 10,000 in./min.

Laser railhead cleaner

The Laser Railhead Cleaner uses an Nd:YAG laser to deliver 5 KW of pulsed energy via a thin fiberoptic, which delivers a round beam in a straight line across the rail. The pulsed beam hits the rail 25,000 times per second. The contaminant absorbs each 5000ºC pulse of light, causing it to rapidly heat, expand, and lift off the rails. Typical contaminants include leaf residue, oil, grease, water, ice, hydraulic fluid, diesel, gas, rubber, rust, and coal slurry.
