    Dual-design laser velocimeter

The dual-phase Doppler-anemometer system (DualPDA) is argon-ion-laser-based and geared for both industrial research and quality control of spray nozzles. The unit offers improved measurement of spray droplet size, concentration, and flux. DualPDA combines a standard-phase Doppler anemometer with a planar one in a single assembly. In combination with an improved data-processing algorithm, the dual system prevents disturbances from reflected and refracted light, caused by particle trajectory position and effects of the aperture slit, that would produce large "phantom particles" that can skew measurement accuracy.
