Solar Cells wins thin-film photovoltaic-cell research contract

May 1, 1995
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory awarded a $3.5 million contract to Solar Cells Inc. (Toledo, OH) for development of a higher-performance, lower-cost thin-film solar cell. The contract is part of the Thin Film Photovoltaic Partnershi¥Program, a $29 million program started in 1994 to increase US competitiveness in the solar-energy market. SCI plans to develo¥high-temperature vapor deposition of cadmium telluride (CdTe) thin films on glass substrates. Existing CdTe thin-film module
