An optical parametric oscillator (OPO) from B. M. Industries (BMI, Evry, France) was one of several new solid-state devices introduced at the 15th European Optoelectronics Symposium (March 28-30, 1995) in Paris, France. The OPO delivers 40-mJ pulses with a spectral linewidth of 0.2 cm-1 over a tuning range of 410 to 700 nm (signal output) and 720 to 2500 nm (idler output). Narrow-linewidth operation is continuously monitored using a feedback system that analyzes diffraction rings.
