Center for Ultrafast Optical Science receives five-year, $14 million NSF grant
The Center for Ultrafast Optical Science at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) has received renewal of a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) worth $14 million for next five years. The center is one of 25 NSF-designated Science and Technology Centers and is the only one in optics The main areas of research are ultrafast science and high-field (high-intensity) research and terahert¥systems for applications in ultrafast electronics and medical and micromachining applications. OI think one of the reasons we?ve been successful is that we?ve done a lot of technology transfer,O says Gerard Mourou, director of the center.
