Variable attenuator

Sept. 1, 1997
The OVA-610 is a voltage-controlled fiber-pigtailed optical variable attenuator. The module has a linearly variable neutral-density filter mounted on a linear sliding motor. By applying a dc voltage to an external driver, attenuation can be varied over a continuously adjustable range of 30 dB within 50 ms. The attenuator has low wavelength dependence and attenuation resettability of less than ۪.2 dB. The module can be used for fiber communications or test-and-measurement applications.
