In the introduction to his Annual Technology Review on page 111 senior editor John Wallace notes that the breadth of subject matter covered by Laser Focus World is so broad that… “just as no one term covers the whole field [of optoelectronics], no one assorted selection of a year’s technical highlights can either. A similar challenge faced associate editor Gail Overton in putting together a preview of next month’s Photonics West conference. To be held in San Jose, CA, Jan. 22-27, 2005, the conference and exhibition covers more or less the entire field of photonics and optoelectronics, so its program is equally as broad as the content of Laser Focus World.
