Uniphase acquires Broadband Communications Products

In a further extension of its telecommunications component line, Uniphase Corp. (San Jose, CA) has acquired Broadband Communications Products Inc. (Melborne, FL), a maker of high-performance fiberoptic transmitters, receivers, and test equipment. In particular, the company makes transceivers tolerant of harsh environments. Broadband, with its 79 employees, will be known as Uniphase Broadband Products. In consideration of all of Broadband`s outstanding shares and securities, Uniphase issued a total of approximately 730,000 shares and assumed options for an additional 418,000 shares of Uniphase common stock.
