Coherent, FONS enter joint venture to form CFX Communications Systems

    Coherent Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) and Fiber Optics Networks Solutions Corp. (FONS; Northboro, MA) have entered into a joint venture to form CFX Communications Systems. The new company will develo¥and market a broadband transmission product line to provide cost-effective cable television and high-speed Internet access. The product line will provide both analog and digital transmissions supporting hybrid fiber coax networks, fiber-to-the-curb systems, and fiber-to-the-home systems.

    Coherent Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) and Fiber Optics Networks Solutions Corp. (FONS; Northboro, MA) have entered into a joint venture to form CFX Communications Systems. The new company will develo¥and market a broadband transmission product line to provide cost-effective cable television and high-speed Internet access. The product line will provide both analog and digital transmissions supporting hybrid fiber coax networks, fiber-to-the-curb systems, and fiber-to-the-home systems.

    The move caps investments by FONS over the past two and a half years in research, development, and prototyping of a linearized broadband-transmission product line. Michael Noonan, FONS Corp. president and CEO, will serve as president of CFX Communications Systems. The new company will be located in Northboro, MA.
