• Sony buys into video-projection-systems firm

    Sony Electronics Inc. (Itasca, IL) has invested in the Corporation for Laser Optics Research (COLOR; Portsmouth, NH)--which manufactures video-projection systems that produce static or dynamic images on almost any surface via an array of red-, green-, and blue-output pulsed lasers. According to a COLOR representative, Sony has assumed only a minority equity interest in the firm, but it is the only corporate investor. All others holding equity interest are private investors.     Sony buys into video-projection-systems firm

    Sony Electronics Inc. (Itasca, IL) has invested in the Corporation for Laser Optics Research (COLOR; Portsmouth, NH)--which manufactures video-projection systems that produce static or dynamic images on almost any surface via an array of red-, green-, and blue-output pulsed lasers. According to a COLOR representative, Sony has assumed only a minority equity interest in the firm, but it is the only corporate investor. All others holding equity interest are private investors. Akihiko Nakamura, Sony executive vice president and chief financial officer, also has joined the COLOR board of directors.
