Breault Research named Arizona’s 2010 Small Business Innovator of the Year
Dec. 2, 2010
Tucson, AZ -- Breault Research Organization (BRO), provider of virtual prototyping software and optical engineering services, has been named 2010 Small Business Innovator of the Year by the Arizona Governorâs Celebration of Innovation (GCOI) award committee. Company founder Dr. Robert Breault has been recognized as the 2010 Ed Denison Business Leader of the Year.
BRO received the stateâs Small Business Innovator of the Year award for its multiyear development and June 2010 release of APEX, an optical engineering software application fully integrated with the industry-standard SolidWorks 3D CAD software. The company says that APEX represents a leap forward in optical software, and gives optical, mechanical, and other types of engineers a user-friendly, CAD-based tool for the design and analysis of complex optical and illumination systems.
In its statement the company said it had verified the market need for APEX in 2006 and put a plan in motion to realize development of the new optical software program as a member of Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corporationâs OEM distributor network.
Dr. Kevin Garcia, BRO's CEO stated, âOur commitment to Arizona and the stateâs tech community is best described by our actions. Rather than reduce our staff and operating expenses into the weakening economy, BRO hired and retained software developers to successfully release an entirely new product needed in the marketplace.â
Separately, BROâs president and founder Dr. Robert Breault was named the 2010 Ed Denison Business Leader of the Year for his contributions to Arizona's technology industry and his community involvement. According to Amy Phillips, UA Technology Transfer License Specialist and Dr. Breaultâs nominator for the GCOI award, "Bob has been such a strong force for optics and entrepreneurs in Tucson that he is a natural fit for the Ed Denison Award.âFor more information visit the BRO websitePosted by Steve AndersonFollow us on TwitterSubscribe now to Laser Focus World magazine; Itâs free!
