EYE Lighting Applied Optix Division Introduces Next Generation PV Module Long Pulse Solar Simulation Test System

XLP System designed to perform in production or laboratory environments

Mentor, Ohio – EYE Lighting International of North America, Inc., a leading provider of lamps, luminaires, and related lighting products for the Applied Optics industry, has announced the introduction of its next generation XLP family of Long Pulse PV panel performance test systems for testing both crystalline and thin-film photovoltaic modules. The exceptional spectral concurrence, irradiation uniformity and pulse stability exceeds IEC Class AAA standards to guarantee accurate, repeatable results.

Developed to meet evolving technology requirements, the systems are designed for testing both crystalline and thin-film PV modules. As new thin-film PV technologies and products are introduced, the requirement for high quality long pulse simulation systems has dramatically increased. Programmable pulse duration and acquisition delay overcomes the inherent problem some thin-film PV materials experience when illuminated with short pulses.

An integrated state-of-the-art Microsoft Windows 7 .Net application for test sequence control, data acquisition and measurement analysis easily matches I-V functionality to production or laboratory requirements. Modbus/RS Linx compatibility is built-in for simplified upstream/downstream automation integration. The system’s new high resolution, high speed (18 bit A/D; 100,000 samples/sec.) data acquisition system provides unmatched data range and resolution. The programmable electronic load provides maximum flexibility for laboratory or production applications. All data is exportable to Microsoft Excel® compatible spreadsheets or other statistical analysis software including SQL server databases.

For production applications where cost per module is critical, the XLP proprietary power system reduces total process cycle time to 10 seconds producing up to 50% greater production throughput over typical systems. An optional 4-quadrant load provides capability to perform PV module dark I-V measurements for research and troubleshooting.

Three new XLP systems are currently offered to match price, performance, and size to customer PV panel test requirements.
