Westford, MA--Laser Services, a precision laser job shop, has been awarded a $61,200 Workforce Training Fund grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for an employee training and professional development project. The company will use the grant for training programs for 32 employees and expects to create four new jobs as a result.

The purpose of the Workforce Training Fund is to provide resources to Massachusetts businesses to train current and newly hired employees. The fund’s major focus is on small- to medium-sized companies.

The funds will help the company adopt lean production techniques and build a training program in which trade school students and young workers will learn from experienced mentors.

To be eligible for the grant, the company was required to demonstrate the need for the training, the positive impact the training would have on the organization, and its fiscal responsibility.
