Montreal, Que., June 5, 2002 -- Coreco Imaging has released Sapera 4.1, the newly enhanced version of the company's award-winning software library for high-performance image acquisition, processing and analysis. Optimized for Intel's MMX, SSE (Streaming SIMD Extensions) and SSE-2 instruction sets, Sapera 4.1 features more than 300 functions.

Sapera 4.1 incorporates a number of added support features that speed the application development process. Sapera includes SMART Series, a collection of robust application specific libraries for pattern matching (SMART Search), optical character recognition (SMART OCR) and 1D/2D barcode (SMART Matrix). Version 4.1 features enhanced character training functions and increased execution speeds for SMART OCR and support for the following bar codes: EAN8, EAN13 and ITF through SMART Matrix.

Newly added TWAIN support enables image capture from Coreco Imaging frame grabbers without additional programming.

Version 4.1 includes expanded support for secondary display output control functions for the Bandit-II Series frame grabbers. DirectDraw 8.1 compliant, Sapera 4.1 allows Windows 2000 and XP extended desktop capability using 3rd party VGA cards for the Bandit-II Series. Sapera 4.1 also includes powerful user-defined custom camera controls for the Viper-CamLink frame grabbers.

CamExpert, Coreco Imaging's Windows-based camera configuration utility features a more intuitive, user-friendly interface. Users can now select the appropriate configuration files for the frame grabber installed in the system.

Sapera's hardware-independent software libraries are programmable using conventional 'C' Dynamic-Link-Libraries (DLLs), ActiveX Controls and C++ classes. Sapera-based applications can be developed using Microsoft Visual C/C++, Microsoft VisualBasic, and Borland C++ Builder under Windows NT/2000 and Windows XP.

Available immediately, Sapera 4.1 is priced at $3900.
