Coherent acquires Ealing Electro-Optics
In a move to increase its presence in the optics market with catalog offerings and custom design and assembly capabilities, Coherent Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) has signed an agreement to acquire Ealing Electro-Optics (Watford, England) for approximately $9.5 million in cash. The company will become part of Coherent`s optics division, the Coherent Auburn Grou¥(Auburn, CA), under the management of division vice president and general manager Robert Gelber. Ealing`s US subsidiary (Holliston, MA) will be integrated into the Coherent Auburn facility, with former Opto-Sigma (Santa Clara, CA) president and CEO Paul Kenrick heading u¥worldwide catalog operations. The Watford facility, specializing in optical design and assembly, will remain open under the management of Robin Henderson, managing director of European optics.
