Spectra-Physics® Unveils New Ultrafast Amplifier Platform

Spitfire® Ace™ amplifier delivers guaranteed stability and industry-leading power

Santa Clara, CA – January 25, 2011 – Spectra-Physics®, a Newport Corporation brand, introduces the Spitfire Ace, the most technically-advanced, ultrafast regenerative amplifier commercially available. The Spitfire Ace amplifier sets a new industry standard for guaranteed long-term performance, and delivers superior average power of more than 5W at 1, 5, and 10 kHz with excellent (M2 <1.3) beam quality. The new, highly stable ultrafast amplifier is ideal for pumping multiple optical parametric amplifier (OPA) systems and performing a wide range of ultrafast nonlinear spectroscopy science.

Building upon the highly successful Spitfire platform, the Spitfire Ace system is equipped with the revolutionary XPert™ technology that ensures maximum stability with guaranteed, reliable performance over hundreds of hours. The Spitfire Ace is designed for use with field-proven Mai Tai® seed laser and Empower® pump laser platforms. The new Empower 45 pump laser delivers over 45W of average power at 5 kHz and is equipped with the company’s proprietary noise reduction technology making it the quietest amplifier pump laser on the market. The Spitfire Ace performs optimally when seeded with the field-proven Mai Tai SP oscillator. The hands-free Mai Tai SP laser does not require alignment, cleaning, or adjustments and its specifications are guaranteed over an extended 20° C temperature range.

“We are pleased to introduce this revolutionary new ultrafast amplifier product platform,” states Herman Chui, senior director of product marketing for Spectra-Physics “The Spitfire Ace amplifier delivers an unprecedented level of guaranteed stability and industry-leading power for consistent day-in and day-out ultrafast results in the most demanding applications.”

The new Spitfire Ace amplifier will be featured at SPIE’s Photonics West at The Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA, January 25-27, 2011. Please visit Newport's South Hall booth #1301 for a demonstration. For more information on the new Spitfire Ace ultrafast amplifier, please visit: www.newport.com/Spitfire_Ace.
