ANDOR TECHNOLOGY LAUNCHES TUCAM FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE DUAL CAMERA IMAGING

Belfast, Northern Ireland, 3rd March 2011 – Andor Technology plc (Andor), a world leader in scientific imaging and spectroscopy solutions, today announced the launch of the TuCam, a state-of-the-art solution for simultaneous two camera imaging. Perfectly suited to fast, concurrent detection of two different fluorophores in experiments such as co-localization FRET or ratiometric ion signalling, TuCam is compatible with Andor’s complete range of market leading low light imaging cameras, including iXon3 and Luca EMCCDs, Clara interline CCD and the latest Neo sCMOS innovation. Further flexibility is provided with by-pass mode and first surface mirror, when TuCam provides a high performance camera switch.

The robust design of TuCam ensures superior optical and mechanical stability and ease of alignment. Available as C- or CSUX-mount versions and availing of a wide range of high quality wavelength or polarization filter sets, TuCam also features high quality achromatic lenses, industry-leading transmission, very low distortion and excellent registration between camera channels. A unique 22mm aperture certifies compatibility with large format sensors for wide field of view imaging, as offered by the Neo sCMOS.

Dr Mark Browne, Director of Microscopy Systems at Andor Technology, said; "When integrated into Andor’s Revolution microscopy systems solutions, TuCam opens exciting opportunities for real time confocal and TIRF where multi-channel or polarization imaging is required. Furthermore, when coupled with the iXon3 high performance EMCCD, TuCam can readily perform dual colour, single molecule imaging, extending also to the bi-plane 3D super-resolution technique.”

Dr Colin Coates, Imaging Product Manager at Andor Technology, said; “The TuCam package represents a particularly versatile laboratory solution. The selected cameras can be readily detached and used individually on different optical set-ups as required, then easily realigned onto the TuCam for dual wavelength imaging. This combination of adaptability, market-leading camera performance and superior optical accuracy makes for a highly differentiating platform.”
