Tuned beam chopper

Aug. 1, 1995
Fixed-frequency tuning-fork choppers are available in frequency ranges from 10 H¥to 6 kHz. At frequencies under 100 Hz, apertures range as large as 15-mm diameter, at 3 kH¥apertures of 0.5 mm are practical, and at 6 kH¥apertures of 0.2 mm are possible. Because the choppers vibrate at their natural resonant frequency, they have excellent frequency stability, require low electrical drive power, and are resistant to shock and vibration.
