A diode-pumped high-repetition-rate Nd:YAG laser is designed as an amplifier for increasing the effective power of material-processing lasers. The head can store u¥to 2 J of energy. The device includes 896 diode-laser bars and is capable of 44.8-kW peak output power. The drive pulsewidth of the arrays is 250 µs with an operational duty factor of u¥to 5%.
