November 9, 2007, Santa Clara, CA--Dominar, a designer and manufacturer of optical coatings, has completed a total acquisition of Ellis Optical Technologies. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Dale Hansen, president and CEO of Dominar, said that the addition of Ellis Optical's experience in fiber optic and glass technology in general is a valuable extension of Dominar's expertise. John Ellis, former owner of Ellis Optical, has assumed the position of Chief Operating Officer of Dominar, with responsibility for day-to-day operations. Mr. Hansen said

"John isn't a novice in optical coatings. He's worked closely with Dominar in developing solutions for various coating challenges for his previous employers, both in Silicon Valley and elsewhere," Hansen said.

The acquisition, he added, "allows us to broaden our product offerings and expose our optical design capabilities to a wider customer base. It's a win-win proposition."
