TECHSPEC spherical aberration compensation plates have a precision BK7 substrate. Used in collimated spaces and placed near a pupil in systems with small fields of view, they provide transmitted wavefronts accurate to 1/10 λ. They come in 12.5, 25, and 50 mm diameters in positive and negative sign plates with aberrations of 0.25, 0.50, and 1.00 λ.

PRESS RELEASE
Edmund Optics® Introduces
TECHSPEC® Spherical Aberration Compensation Plates
Optimized for use in collimated light with small fields of view
July xx, 2010, Barrington, N.J. – Edmund Optics® (EO), the premier provider of optical components, introduces its new TECHSPEC® Spherical Aberration Compensation Plates. Featuring a precision BK7 substrate, these high performance aberration plates are an easy and convenient tool to correct spherical aberrations.
Compensate and correct known amounts of spherical aberration
As light travels through an optical system, many of these systems will experience some level of spherical aberrations. This results in a loss of image quality and can lead to a compromise in overall system performance. EO’s TECHSPEC Spherical Aberration Compensation Plates are designed to compensate and correct known amounts of spherical aberration. These versatile aberration plates should be used in collimated spaces and placed near a pupil. The transmitted wavefront is accurate to 1/10λ. The plates are ideally suited for correcting spherical aberrations in systems with small fields of view.
Combine plates to induce compensatory spherical aberration
EO’s TECHSPEC Spherical Aberration Compensation Plates can be combined to induce the desired amount of compensatory spherical aberration in a given system. Negative sign plates create over-corrected spherical aberration while positive plates result in under-corrected spherical aberration. EO’s TECHSPEC Spherical Aberration Compensation Plates are available in 12.5 mm, 25 mm and 50 mm diameters in both positive and negative sign plates with aberrations of 0.25λ, 0.50λ and 1.00λ. Ideally, Spherical aberration plates applied to imaging systems will improve overall system performance while decreasing the overall complexity of the design. Spherical Aberration Compensation Plates are in-stock and available for immediate delivery for fast turnaround and excellent value
Our TECHSPEC® components are fully supported by engineering prints and are easily integrated into complex assemblies through the available ZEMAX files.
