PRESS RELEASE
Saint-Gobain introduces damage-resistant mirrors for high power, solid state lasers

Saint-Gobain Crystals has expanded the company's Alpine Research Optics brand of laser-grade optics with a new series of high reflectors specifically optimized for use with q-switched, solid state (Nd:YAG, Nd:YVO4 and Nd:YLF) lasers operating in the near infrared and visible spectrum (1064 nm, 1053 nm and 532 nm).

The coatings on these beam delivery optics are designed to withstand high peak fluences and deliver more than 99.5 percent reflectivity, without sacrificing lifetime or mechanical durability. The coatings are intended primarily for laser applications in micromachining and microstructuring in semiconductor fabrication, flat panel display production, solar cell processing and medical device manufacture, as well as a wide range of marking tasks.

The standard versions of these high-power, solid-state laser reflectors are supplied on 1 inch (25.4 mm) or 2 inch (50.8 mm) diameter fused- silica substrates. They have a specified flatness of λ/10 (at 633 nm) and a laser-grade surface quality of 10-5 (over an 85 percent clear aperture). Coatings optimized for either 0° or 45° angle of incidence are available.

In addition to these standard reflectors, Saint-Gobain can readily produce laser mirrors customized in virtually every aspect, including size, shape, substrate material, surface specifications and reflectivity.
Saint-Gobain Crystals is a world leader in the design and implementation of crystal-based technology for radiation detection, lasers and optics, sapphire substrates and reinforcements.

Saint-Gobain Crystals' world headquarters are in Hiram, Ohio. With operations in North America, Europe and Asia, the Crystals division engineers materials and supplies components and sub-systems for the international medical imaging, lighting, energy exploration, electronics, aerospace and security markets.
