Hitachi Denshi America introduces small, light-sensitive, color DSP camera

July 16, 2001
The compact, yet light-sensitive cameras are designed for medical imaging, microscopy, teleconferencing, inspection and vision system applications.

WOODBURY, NEW YORK, July 16, 2001 - The Industrial Video Systems Division of Hitachi Denshi America, Ltd. has introduced the KP-D20A and KP-D20B digital signal processing color cameras. The compact, yet light-sensitive cameras are designed for medical imaging, microscopy, teleconferencing, inspection and vision system applications.

The KP-D20A/B measures just 44 (w) x 44 (h) x 49mm (l) and weighs 130 grams. With DSP technology and light-sensitive CCDs, both versions provide a high-quality optical path that is ideal for precision image processing systems.

The A version features a 1/3-inch microlens CCD with a minimum light sensitivity of 1.5 lux at f1.2, while the B version has a 1/2-inch microlens CCD with a minimum light sensitivity of 1.0 lux at f1.2. Both versions provide 480 TV lines of resolution and 768 x 494 pixels.

The KP-D20s extremely compact profile makes it especially well suited for precision applications in tight spaces.

The KP-D20 is designed for use with CS or C Mount lenses, and an adaptor allows for easy interfacing with the optics of the vision system. The KP-D20 also features a backlight correction function that allows an operator to compensate for a strong light source or reflection by focusing within a selected exposure metering area.

Other features of the KP-D20 include: an on-screen menu system for easy selection and adjustment of camera parameters, auto-tracking white balance, a 2H enhancer for sharper picture quality, a digital zoom, and both composite and Y/C outputs.

Both cameras will be available in late July. For more information on the KP-D20A and KP-D20B, please call (516) 921-7200 or visit the companys web site at www.hdal.com.
