LIGHTech Fiberoptics introduces the smallest mechanical 1x2 switch at ECOC

Oct. 5, 2001
The manufacturer of optical switching components, variable optical attenuators, integrated optical modules and test equipment introduced its LT210 series of small-form-factor, opto-mechnical switches at ECOC in Amsterdam. The switches feature a form factor height of 5.5 mm and switching speed of 5 ms.

LIGHTech Fiberoptics Inc (San Leandro, CA), which specializes in optical switching components, variable optical attenuators, integrated optical modules and test equipment, introduced its LT210 series of small-form-factor, opto-mechnical switches at the ECOC conference in Amsterdam. The switches, with a form factor height of 5.5 mm, also achieve switching speed of 5 ms.

According to company management, the switch also provides low insertion loss of 0.5 dB. The form factor of 5.5 x 22 x 48 mm, along with the PCB mountable interface, accommodates easy integration into complicated optical systems. The series also features insertion loss repeatability of less than ±0.02 dB and low crosstalk of less than ± -70dB. The LT210 family is designed for use in configurable optical Add/Drop Multiplexers, optical cross-connect systems, optical system performance monitoring, protection subsystems and portable test and measurement equipment.

LIGHtech's LT210 meets Telcordia 1073 performance and reliability standards. It is also designed to meet Telcordia 1221 performance and reliability standards. The latching mechanical function enables the lightpath to remain intact when input power is interrupted. The wavelength windows from 1280 nm to 1340 nm and from 1520 nm to 1580 nm are available.
