New hires and other interesting personnel-related developments in the optoelectronics field.

Georg Nadorff has joined Melles Griot as senior optical engineer. He will be located in Rochester, NY, at the Melles Griot Optical Systems facility. Nadorff holds both a master and a bachelor of science degrees in optical engineering from the University of Rochester's Institute of Optics. He will provide key resources in the areas of optical design, system analysis, and metrology.

Val Moshkovskiy has joined Melles Griot as product manager, machine vision. He will also be located in Rochester at the firm�s Optical Systems facility. Moshkovskiy holds a master of science degree with concentration in optical engineering from Kiev Polytechnic Institute and a master of business administration degree from Simon School at the University of Rochester.

• Coherent (Santa Clara, CA) has appointed Robert Quillinan, the firm's executive VP and chief financial officer, to its board of directors.

• Newport Corp. (Irvine, CA) has appointed Jeffrey Coyne to the newly created position of VP and corporate general counsel. Coyne served most recently as a partner at the California-based law firm of Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth.

Greg Schroeder, CPA, has been named controller for Lasertel Inc. (Tucson, AZ), which manufactures high-power semiconductor lasers.
