Ton van Zwam joins Lambda Physik AG as COO

As Lambda Physik AG's COO, van Zwam will be responsible for global customer support and production. His main focus will be to optimize relations with suppliers and processes linked to outsourced stages of value creation.

Lambda Physik AG (Göttingen, Germany) reports that Ton van Zwam has assumed the post of Chief Operating Officer. Jürgen Heukäufer, who has performed the duties of COO since May 1, 2001 as well as those of CFO since June 1, 2001, will focus on the company's finances in the future.

As Lambda Physik AG's COO, van Zwam will be responsible for global customer support and production. His main focus will be to optimize relations with suppliers and processes linked to outsourced stages of value creation. Mr. van Zwam brings many years of experience in the area of supply chain management. In his last position, as VP for procurement at ASM Lithography, a Dutch stepper manufacturer, Mr. van Zwam was responsible for a turnover of EUR 500 million. While at ASML, he introduced an integrated supply chain system, achieving considerable cost reductions. Before his employment at ASML, van Zwam worked for Philips Group where one of his functions was the purchasing of capital equipment for the semiconductor division.

CEO Dirk Basting commented on the Executive Board's increase to four members: “Ton van Zwam's joining the Board is a gain for us in many respects. Besides being professionally experienced to manage the group's operations, he is extremely knowledgeable about the semiconductor industry, which is one of our key markets. He is also very familiar with Lambda Physik because of our long-standing business relationship with ASML.”

J�rgen Heukäufer who has performed the duties of CFO and COO since June 1, 2001, will concentrate on the company's finances in the future due to his extensive experience in the finance and accounting departments of international companies. Manfred Rahe will be responsible for research and development, as well as for the sales areas for lithography, industry and science/medicine. CEO Dirk Basting will focus more of his efforts on strategic matters in the future.
