Corona Announces Worlds First OC-768 VSR Transmitters and Receivers

Aug. 8, 2001
Coronas modules feature a throughput of 40 Gbit/s in a 13 x 13-mm BGA packageroughly the size of a dimewhich reportedly makes them the smallest parallel devices available.

Lombard, IL, August 8, 2001 Corona Optical Systems Inc., which manufactures high-speed optoelectronic components and subsystems, today announced it has begun customer sampling of the worlds first OC-768 VSR parallel optical transmitter and receiver pairs. The optoelectronic devices facilitate efficient, high-speed optical connections in communications and data networking equipment. Coronas modules feature a throughput of 40 Gbit/s in a 13 x 13-mm BGA packageroughly the size of a dimewhich reportedly makes them the smallest parallel devices available.

Bryan R. Gregory, Corona President & CEO, stated, Coronas innovative, leading edge products enable OEMs to meet their bandwidth, density and manufacturability goals for tomorrows 40Gig systems.

In addition to size, speed and reliability, Coronas parallel optical modules feature a Pick & Place compatible BGA package. They are true surface mount devices and can be configured with multiple heatsink options. Coronas devices can also be made available on Tape and Reel.
