London, March 26, 2003. CRL Opto Limited (UK) and MOXTEK (US) have formed a strategic alliance. Liquid-crystal-on-silicon (LCOS) microdisplays are now more than just an emerging display technology. As more projection and near eye products are introduced, users demand more efficient and cost-effective solutions.

A combination of CRL Opto's high-resolution microdisplay technology and MOXTEK's products and applications expertise offers customers the support that they need to integrate components into their application.

In most projection systems, one of the main problems associated with traditional dye-type absorbing polarisers is their inability to survive high light flux. With high transmission a requirement, the large acceptance angle of the LCOS microdisplay and the ProFlux( polarising beam splitter (PBS) from MOXTEK enables users to work to f/1.8. This allows a greater throughput without a trade off with contrast.

Greg Truman, Managing Director of CRL Opto said, "We are very pleased to be working with MOXTEK. Both companies have a customer-orientated culture and we believe in looking after our customers. CRL Opto's high performance, high resolution microdisplays combined with MOXTEK's polarisers, enable our customers to produce products which were not previously possible."

"MOXTEK finds CRL Opto's unique LCOS technology exciting. We believe the single-panel LCOS market will be significant, and that MOXTEK's ProFlux(tm) optical components combined with CRL Opto microdisplays enables unique projection display solutions for our customers," said Dr. Douglas Hansen, Director of Business and Technology from MOXTEK.
