SPIE's regional meeting on optoelectronics and imaging, OPTO-Southwest, will be held Sept. 17 to 18 in Tucson, AZ. Conference topics include astronomical optics, fiberoptic communication systems and devices, design of integrated and micro-optics, optical imaging in medicine, photonic materials and devices, precision optical measurements, defense systems optics, and a special session on education.

OPTO-Southwest also will offer continuing education courses, including Practical Optical Systems Design, Adaptive Optics, Electro-Optical Imaging System Performance, Basic Optics for Engineers, and more.

The evening plenary presentation by Robert Fischer of Optics 1 Inc. (Westlake Village, CA) will focus on optical design. More conference details are available at www.spie.org/info/sw.
