Polarization beamsplitter

April 1, 1995
A passive, integrated optical beamsplitter separates a beam of polarized light into the TE and TM modes at 1300 nm (with other wavelengths optional). The component includes polarization-maintaining input and output pigtails. Excess loss is about 3 dB, return loss is less than -55 dB, and extinction is greater than 15 dB.
