Center for Optics Manufacturing receives $3 million DoD grant
The Department of Defense (DoD) awarded the Center for Optics Manufacturing (COM) at the University of Rochester (Rochester, NY) $3 million for further development of precision-optics manufacturing technology. The center has a charter to develo¥tools to modernize fabrication techniques and increase the competitiveness of US optics manufacturers. COM has produced computer-controlled grind/polish machines capable of producing high-quality, high-volume output. The grant will be used to continue the center`s research and development program.
