Ceramic mirror mount

    The Ceramount CM-1, an all-ceramic mirror mount, is a kinematic mount for 1- to 2-in.-diameter mirrors made entirely of fused silica. Because fused silica has a low coefficient of thermal expansion of 6 ppm/°C (as compared to 22.0 ppm/°C for aluminum) this mount can provide more than an order of magnitude improvement in stability over aluminum mirror mounts. The CM-1 also has Stearett carbine ball-tipped micrometers and sapphire seats.
