SY Technology nets NASA SBIR grants for diffractive optics

NASA awarded optics-manufacturer SY Technology Inc. (Huntsville, AL) a $600,000 Phase II SBIR grant to develop diffractive-optics design and fabrication technology. The two-year grant follows on the heels of a $70,000, six-month Phase I technology-demonstration project. SY Technology produces optical and image-processing systems, micro-opto-electro-mechanical systems, and computational fluid-dynamic systems. The 60-person company had revenues of approximately $6 million last year. The company hopes to commercialize the diffractive-optics technology via a Phase III SBIR award.
