Life Sciences International acquires Richardson Grating Laboratory
Scientific equipment and supply manufacturer Life Sciences International plc (LSI, London, England) has bought the Richardson Grating Laboratory (RGL, Rochester, NY). Originally owned by Bausch & Lomb, RGL was acquired by Milton Roy Company (Rochester, NY) in 1985. The laboratory manufactures ruled and holographic optical gratings for a variety of applications, including lasers and spectroscopy, and recently delivered an 840-mm echelle diffraction grating to the European Southern Observatory for use in the telescope ultraviolet/visible light spectrograph (see Laser Focus World, August 1994, p. 15). The purchase was part of the larger LSI acquisition of Spectronic Instruments (Rochester, NY), formerly the analytical products division of Milton Roy and SLM Instruments.
