Subaru 8.3m mirror blank hits the road

    In late August, a 33ton, 8.31mdiameter mirror blank was transported by truck and barge from Corning`s Canton, NY, plant to Contraves` large optics facility in Wampum, PA. Airbags inside the octagonal shipping box cushioned the large, concave glass slab.
